Over 30 senior business leaders gathered together to celebrate the launch of Taunton’s newly refurbished office complex Tangier Central.
Cllr John Williams, leader of Taunton Deane Borough Council, was delighted to declare the first phase of Tangier Central offices to be officially open. Guests also heard addresses by Tangier Central’s owner CCLA Investment Management and agents Hatfield White and Williams Gunter Hardwick.
In his speech, Cllr Williams talked about the CCLA’s welcome investment in Taunton and the wealth of potential that the town had to offer its growing business community with its new designation as a Garden Town.
Cllr Williams made particular reference to forthcoming improvements to Taunton rail station; a revised regeneration scheme for Firepool site, as well as other infrastructure improvements that had been invested in over the years, ensuring the right environment for businesses and their staff to flourish.
Cllr Williams said, “Tangier Central is an excellent location for businesses with the quality work environment that has been created.” He added, “It’s also very welcome to see the potential of Taunton’s river setting realised.”
Gerard Williams, Asset Manager at developer CCLA, talked about Taunton’s status as a “key business centre for the county”, drawing attention to its burgeoning advanced manufacturing and technology sectors.
Commenting on the launch event, Nigel Hatfield, Director at Hatfield White, said: “Over the past 18 months the buildings here at Castle Street have been completely transformed into contemporary work space that fully exploits its wonderful riverside setting, and proximity to Taunton town centre. It has been a pleasure to mark Tangier Central’s opening with members of the local business community and we thank everyone for their support.”
The two buildings that together comprise Tangier Central have been undergoing extensive modernisation in a £1.5m scheme that is releasing new office space ranging from 1,400 sq ft to 60,000 sq ft onto the market.
Phase one of the scheme is complete and has delivered around 30,000 sq ft of space at the revitalised site. Newly signed occupiers include construction recruitment specialist Setsquare Recruitment and the South West regional office of UNISON.
