We are running a children’s colouring competition with a difference. Asking for entrants to make a donation to our Christmas collection for the Weston-super-Mare Foodbank.
New figures, released by The Trussel Trust this month, show an increase in demand for foodbanks in the South West. This year alone, the Weston-super-Mare Foodbank has helped feed 3,273 people and of that more than a thousand were children.
All you have to do is download the picture of the Plum bear and return your completed colouring to our Plum offices in Bleadon, where we will be putting entries on display to create our very own bear gallery; or to our drop off point in The Bay Cafe at the Tropicana, along with a donation for the local foodbank.
We are looking for lots of vibrant and colourful entries to win our ‘Plum’ Build-A-Bear, who is looking for a new home this Christmas. Just look at the cute little bundle of fluff….. *aaawww*
The following items would be greatly received as donations to our collection; and are in particular demand this time of year:
- Cartons of UHT milk
- Tins of spaghetti, ravioli & potatoes
- Tinned meat (corned beef, meatballs, chilli con carne)
- Packets of biscuits or snacks
- Washing tablets
- Tins of rice pudding/custard
- Christmas items; such as advent calendars, chocolate coins.
The shelves at the Weston-super-Mare Foodbank are full of tins of tuna and baked beans, so these items are not so sought after.
The Plum bear colouring sheet can be downloaded and printed here.
Please feel free to take a picture of your completed entry and post it to our Facebook and Twitter pages, tagging us and using the #BearToCare hashtag; we would love to fill our social media pages with your colourful entries!
Entries must be received by Friday 16th December. The winner will be contacted via telephone or email on Monday 19th December and will be invited to a photoshoot to collect their bear on Wednesday 21th December. Good luck everyone!
