Developer Summerfield has secured planning consent for the creation of 40 new homes in the popular Mendip village of Baltonsborough, Somerset.
Mendip District Council approved Summerfield’s proposal to create a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes on the edge of Baltonsborough, which enjoys stunning, rural views. Planners have also granted consent for a new village store for the site.
Situated just four miles to the east of Glastonbury, Baltonsborough is a popular rural village that offers a good range of amenities including a vibrant village pub, primary school, post office and village hall. Baltonsborough is also within easy reach of several leading independent schools including Millfield School in Street and Wells Cathedral School, as well as a number of excellent state schools.
Richard Nicol, Divisional Sales Director for Summerfield, commented; “A lovely village with splendid views towards Glastonbury’s Tor, Baltonsborough is understandably a very popular place to live. It offers all the benefits of rural living yet is close to the towns of Glastonbury, Street, Wells, Shepton Mallet and Castle Cary.
“Our Church Meadows development aims to provide Baltonsborough with a range of attractive new homes that cater for a variety of needs, from those looking to take their first steps onto the property ladder to those with growing space requirements.
“The Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which helps both first-time buyers and home movers to buy new-build properties, is available on all the homes. We hope this will make these fantastic properties, which will be competitively priced, further accessible to those looking to settle in this beautiful part of Somerset.”
With a focus on high energy performance as well as good looks, the homes benefit from high levels of insulation, gas fired central heating and double glazing. In addition, the homes all boast exceptionally high specifications including oak wood internal doors, quality (conglomerated) kitchen work surfaces, Smeg brand appliances, security alarm systems and, where appropriate, electric garage doors.
Furthermore, each property has been carefully designed to complement its rural setting by using the traditional style and character features typical of the Mendip area.
