Regional property developers, Summerfield, have let or sold all 40 units in their latest block, Block 1, within six months of practical completion and this has led to a decision to apply for planning permission for a fourth building of terrace units on the site. Planning consent has now been granted for these further 18 terrace units, called Block Z, to be developed.

Duncan Brown, partner at marketing agents, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, said:

“We’ve been impressed with uptake at Westpark 26. It’s defied the economic downturn, with the most recent block selling much quicker than anticipated. We’ve also been delighted with early interest in the next block, which reflects a clear upturn in business and investor confidence.

“Owner occupiers, investors and tenants are continuing to acquire units. Block 1 has now completely sold and we’ve already agreed deals on seven of the 18 units of the new block, which is planned for completion in the spring of next year.”

The arrival of new businesses and improvement of amenities on site has brought 120 jobs to the business park, 36% of which are newly created.

Ben Trickey, senior development surveyor at Summerfield, commented:

“Westpark 26 is a significant development for Wellington. With the Shell petrol filling station, which opens in February 2015, a Budgens mini supermarket, Costa Coffee, Subway and car wash, the services and facilities on Westpark are improving again.”

Ben added:

“Units of various sizes, from 715 sq ft up to 1,500 sq ft are available in Block Z. With other standalone design and build projects in the pipeline, now is an exciting time for Westpark 26 and new occupiers; I’d urge businesses to contact Greenslade Taylor Hunt and discuss the benefits that moving to Wellington might bring.”
