Plum Communications & PR have announced the winner of their recent charity competition to identify a local charity to support for a year as Broadway Lodge; a specialist treatment centre for addiction based in Weston-super-Mare.
Plum launched the competition via social media channels in January and invited organisations across the Somerset area to nominate themselves with a 200 word application.
Entries were then shortlisted to five organisations and a public voting system via Plum’s website was created where people had five days to cast one vote for their chosen charity.
Over 780 votes were registered in just five days and Plum are delighted to announce the winning charity, with over 45% of the votes, as Broadway Lodge.
Broadway Lodge, will gain pro-bono (free) PR and marketing guidance for a year. The support will include news releases, social media support, general advice and consultancy to support the charity with in meeting their objectives.
Chief Executive, Brian Dudley, is thrilled with the win. “This has come at the perfect time as Broadway Lodge is celebrating 40 years of delivering successful addiction treatment programmes in 2014 and what better way for us to benefit from such expertise to help us shout about it!

From the original applications received, the other charities that made the shortlist were: Charlie Derrick Music Foundation, Canine Partners, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, and Somerset Community Care Matters.
