Plum’s 5th birthday proves fruitful for local charities

Three local charities have received surprise support from marketing and PR agency Plum Communications & PR as part of its fifth birthday celebrations.

Staff at Plum each nominated a nearby charity and voted on which three would receive the ‘gift of time’. The three winning charities were In-2-Biking, which runs inclusive cycling sessions for people with physical and learning disabilities, Lympsham Pre-School, a non-profit making organisation for children aged two to five years old, and Secret World Wildlife Rescue, which rescues and rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in Somerset.

Karen Morledge, managing director of Plum, commented: “Supporting charities has always been part of our ethos and we wanted to celebrate our success over the last five years by donating our time and support to a number of very different, but worthy, local charities.”

In-2-Biking’s leader, Lin Thomas, said: “The support from Plum couldn’t have come at a better time. Our volunteers are instrumental in enabling our members to experience cycling in the same way as those without a disability so it was great having another pair of hands to help. We really need some more volunteers so we’re asking everyone who might be interested to join us at our sponsored funride at Clarence Park on Sunday 5 July from 10am; please come along to find out more!”

Plum’s birthday is also heralding a new phase of expansion for the business, with Angela Cassidy being promoted to account manager, recruitment currently taking place for a business support assistant and further posts likely to be advertised over the coming months.

Karen added: “Over the past five years the business has gone from strength to strength. From humble beginnings operating from a home office, Plum’s turnover has consistently grown as its customer base has diversified and spanned throughout Somerset and the South West. We’re now at a point where staff are being promoted through the management structure, we’ll be bringing on new team members and looking to grow even further with our ‘2020 vision’.”
