Plum’s journey and the Power of PR

Our managing director, Karen, was invited by the Somerset Chamber of Commerce to be their guest speaker at their Ladies Afternoon Tea & Networking event at The Castle, Taunton on 14th September.

Karen was praised for her honest and open talk on her journey in business and the power of PR. Starting at the formation of Plum and following its successful progress and expansion throughout the years, Karen spoke about the challenges and highlights the last seven years has presented. Lucy Partridge from Barclays, one of the professionals attending the afternoon tea, said that “Listening to the inspirational Karen Morledge and her journey both personally and professionally has got me thinking. There will be challenges along the way, but keep going and you will reap the rewards! Thank you Karen!”

There are many inspirational people that motivate team Plum, and for Karen, Baroness Michelle Mone is one of them; so what a fantastic surprise to see a good luck tweet come through from her to Karen during the talk!

Reflecting on the day, Karen said “I just want to say thank you to everyone in my network, to old contacts and to many new ones I’ve made recently, for all of the wonderful support. I’m super excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Plum over the coming few months and as I said in my presentation today, I will continue to:

  1. Love what I do and do what I love
  2. Have self-belief
  3. Dream
  4. Be kind, always
  5. Smile
  6. Push the boundaries

Hard work does pays off.”
